named to NAR governing body
WASHINGTON (January 10, 2008) – The National Association of Realtors® has appointed Helen Hanna Casey of Pittsburgh to its 2008 Executive Committee. Casey is president of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, the third largest independent real estate company in the United States.
The NAR Executive Committee is comprised of 50 members that are instrumental in conducting the association’s affairs. The Executive Committee also recommends new policies, policy revisions and rescissions to the NAR Board of Directors.
“I am pleased that Helen has accepted this appointment,” said NAR President Dick Gaylord, a broker with RE/MAX Real Estate Specialists in Long Beach, Calif. “Her involvement in NAR’s Executive Committee will bring a different viewpoint and a fresh perspective for the future of real estate.”
Casey is a seasoned real estate professional, with 30 years’ experience, and holds the professional designations of GRI (Graduate Realtor® Institute) and CRB (Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager). She is the first woman to be elected President of the Board of Directors of the West Penn Multi-List, as well as having the honor of being the only woman to serve on its board. Working Woman Magazine named Casey and her company among the “Top 500 Woman-Owned Businesses” in the United States.
Helen is committed to improving the Pittsburgh region and is involved in a variety of organizations to achieve this goal. She is currently the chair of trustees of Carlow University, on the board of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, on the board of TriState Capital, serves as vice chair of productions for the Civic Light Opera and is vice president of the International Women’s Forum (IWF). Helen also served in 2007 as Chair of The Realty Alliance, the consortium of the largest, professional residential real estate companies in the United States and Canada.
