With a little more than two months to go before the Primary election that includes the race for Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, candidates are are putting together their campaigns. Of course, the biggest news is that the incumbent, Luke Ravenstahl, has decided to not run for re-election. His decision has thrown the race wide open with more Democrats considering a run at the Primary.

Each year, the REALTORS® Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh honors a REALTOR® who has enhanced our organization and community through their personal efforts. This honor is known as the REALTOR® of the Year Award. It is the highest honor bestowed by RAMP.

The RAMP Foundation is pleased to announce that there are ten (10) grants valued at up to $300 available for the 2013 calendar year. You need to apply now by completing the grant application and have your broker or manager submit a letter of recommendation. The deadline for both documents to be submitted is Friday, November 30, 2012.

There may be some licensees that are practicing without a current license. And it could be YOUR license affected. We urge you to verify that your personal license is listed as “Active” on the State Real Estate Commission’s website. Go to the following link: http://www.licensepa.state.pa.us/ and enter your name or license number. If the license status is anything other than “Active” and you are practicing real estate you will need to follow the steps to bring your license into compliance.

The following names have been submitted to be the slate of candidates for the general election from membership to a three-year term (2013 through 2015) on the Board of Directors. Ballots will be sent early in September with the polls closing on at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

RAMP will be in Harrisburg this week to represent our membership at the PAR Spring Business Meetings. The property tax reform bills that have been introduced in the state legislature are anticipated to generate lively discussions and strong responses within the PAR Committee meetings that RAMP Directors serve on, which include the leadership level. State Legislators are considering several bills that call for a moratorium on reassessments, shifting from a property tax to an earned income tax, an increase in the sales tax, and combinations thereof . . .
