Formal appeals filed by both the property owners and the taxing authorities (school district, municipalities, county) were due on April 2nd. For those who filed Informal Reviews, there exists a 30-day window from receipt of written notice to file for a Formal Appeal.
Are you following along to see the status of an appeal you have filed? Wish to keep an eye on whether one of the taxing authorities is appealing your new assessment?
Here's how to do so in four easy steps:
It's important to keep in mind the following when checking on appeal status . . .
- With around 60,000 formal appeals filed, it may take several more weeks for all of the initial filings (especially those filed just before the April 2nd deadline) to be noted online
- The outcomes of Informal Reviews may alter the "Appeal Status" of a property as noted -- as noted earlier, there is 30-day window after the Informal Review outcome has been handed down for a Formal Appeal (by a property owner or a taxing authority) to be filed. Likewise, some property owners who previously filed may choose to withdraw their Formal Appeal based on the the outcome of their Informal Review.
