Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is planning to ask Pittsburgh City Council to considering extending the deadline by which City property owners have to receive a 2% early-payment discount to March 30th. It is an honor and privilege to return to RAMP on the heels of a milestone year. As RAMP moves into its 2nd Century, my goal is to work with our leadership to keep REALTORS® at the heart of the transaction. Our role in the industry and in the community evolves, but never ceases to be important and vital.
My responsibility as your Executive Vice President is clear: Association Management. [JR1] That charge comes with a multitude of duties handed down from our line officers and our Board of Directors. This year, I will devote my energy into re-evaluating every program, product and service to ensure that they directly support our membership in doing business better...

“Reassessment Roulette” continues to serve up unexpected twists and developments, with the heat remaining high in Allegheny County. Over the past week we've seen contempt charges tossed about like hot potatoes, orders issued, tinkering with the schedule, re-examination of who would pay what, and the breaking news that the implementation of new values will be delayed until 2013 . . .

After scouring the assorted media offerings all weekend, it would seem that none of our local elected officials were put in the clink over the weekend. However we did hear a rousing chorus of the "blame game" as questions have begun to be voiced regarding the company who conducted the reassessment, their methodologies, and history. And why have elected officials from surrounding counties begun to call for a statewide system, just as REALTORS® have advocated for?

If it didn't hit folks in the pocketbook, if it weren't thoroughly confusing and sometimes frightening, this week alone might be the best soap opera ever in Allegheny County. If you didn't set your DVR, let's recap the past handful of days locally, and then cover the mechanics of the matter . . . .

The purpose of the Education Grant Program is to foster professional development within the real estate industry and, in so doing, benefit the consumer. The RAMP Foundation does this by offering grants to help defray the cost of courses approved for a broker license and REALTOR® designation courses. These are reimbursement grants and are paid once the courses are completed. Since 2006, the RAMP Foundation has awarded 60 grants.
The Education Grant Program was revised in 2010 for the 2011 grant program, so that the grant year coincides with the calendar year. Grant recipients were selected before the grant year began to give recipients the full calendar year to select suitable course offerings and complete the coursework. Reimbursements will be paid during 2012 as grant recipients submit evidence of expenditures and completion of the courses. The grant year ends with the calendar year, which means that all grant requirements must be fulfilled by year-end.
