Be My Neighbor Day

As President of RAMP, my theme this year is "Being Good Neighbors." This theme is partly inspired by everyone's favorite neighbor and Western PA native, Mister Fred Rogers. This coming weekend "Be My Neighbor Day" will be held at the Heinz History Center to help families celebrate the legacy of Mister Rogers. I wish to provide the details to you in the event that you, your family and/or friends want to join the fun. The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership included a description in their e-newsletter this week:

Be My Neighbor Day
Celebrate the life and legacy of America's favorite neighbor, Fred Rogers on Saturday, April 21.

2018 Marks 50 years since the premiere of Fred Rogers' beloved television program, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. On Be My Neighbor Day, members of the community are encouraged to do something nice for their neighbors and friends to honor Fred's life.

At Heinz History Center, volunteers of any age are encouraged to get involved and make a sweater themed treat. Turn a snack bag into a meaningful token of kindness while crafting paper sweater with messages that will benefit after school programs at the South Hills Interfaith Movement.

Registration can be done through Pittsburgh Cares and will include free admission to the History Center on Be My Neighbor Day. After volunteering, families are invited to attend a special Thank You Day featuring characters from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Click here to sign up and volunteer!
