Keeping the Needy Warm

Each year, the Community Service Committee organizes the "Keeping the Needy Warm" project to collect clothing items for warmth in the winter months. The committee focused on hats, gloves, and scarves because of volunteers who knitted items for the homeless. After speaking with the agencies that receive the donated items, members realized that the beneficiaries are in need of other items to get them through the winter. Socks, and underwear, along with simple toiletries are essential items.

We are now kicking off the project with multiple drop-off locations, including at R-Day. The committee is actively collecting items and will do so through September 30th. At that time the members will gather everything and sort it into mens, womens and childrens containers. Then, each item will be distributed to the agencies that we have been so fortunate to get to work with the past few years, Shepherd's Heart Ministry and WomanSpace East. They each handle different clients in need so we can be sure our contributions are reaching many different people.

Thank you for your consideration.
